Transformational Leadership Training (TLT) is a Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program alumni get together that focuses on learning applied transformational leadership via mentorships on transdisciplinary fields. In 2015, I led the TLT training of the alumni from the Balkan region, held in Tirana, Albania. Through utilizing script writing and devised theater making as methodological approaches, the alumni from different countries got together to create short performances that were showcased at Tirana’s Lake Park. The alumni were given complex prompts that dealt with intergenerational conflict, trauma, identitarian issues as well as other matters of importance and contemporary relevance, and were invited to together, decide about the direction their story will take, as well as how to present this to an audience. The audiences were invited to discuss the solutions that the relevant group had come up with and suggest alternative versions, similar to Augusto Boal’s (Brazil) Forum Theater Methods (Theater of the Oppressed).
