“Intimate Archives of Space”, was curated by artist Blerta Hoçia in 2021. Hoçia invited former students to draw scetches of their improvised schools and classrooms during the 90’s guerilla education of Albanians in Kosova, based on their memory. I was among the students who completed part of their schooling in home-schools, which also made me a part of of the resistance of the expultion of Kosovar Albanians from public life and discourse by the Serbian government, primarily as a way to strive for a normal life in abnormal circumstances. Blerta invited me to visualize my classroom (as seen on the glass pannels below). The pannels were then placed on one of the home-schools based at the Hertice’s House. The entire corridor was filled with rectangular glasses, which preserved the traces of how some of the private rooms were transformed into classrooms. These images capture my drawings of the classroom I attended during the parallel education system in Arbana neighbourhood (then known as Dushanovë) in Prizren, Kosova between 1998-999.
